    Valentine's Day M&M Cookies

These scrumptious Valentine's Day M&M Cookies are such an easy sweet treat for making this special 'love' day even more special!

Loaded with red, pink and white colored Black Forest Cake M&M's Milk and Dark Chocolate Candies in delicious soft, thick and chewy cookies!  We need these to make our holiday even more complete, because honestly, who isn't going to want cookies, especially these?

My problem is knowing when to stop!  These Valentine's Day M&M Cookies can be quite addictive!  Besides the fact, you can use any color or flavor of m&m's you want and customize!  There is more than one type of Valentine m&m's out there, if you can't find the Black Forest Cake m&m's!

We added some pretty sprinkles and to give them even more color and fun!  We are obsessed with sprinkles here at our house!  ha!

    Cookie Tips:

    • These cookies are so easy to make. I always say, make a double batch! 😉
    • Happily, you don't have to chill the dough and in the end, you will get nice soft, thick and chewy tasting cookies.
    • I chose to make these ¼ cup size.  They seem to be the perfect size for a cookie overall in my opinion, but if you want to go smaller, then do as you will. 🙂
    • We added 1 teaspoon of cornstarch to help aid in the softness and thickness of the cookies, so they don't spread.  Also to help the cookies not spread, we used butter that was still cool, not softened.  You can easily take butter out of fridge and cut into cubes and go from there, or let the butter sit out on the counter for 30 minutes or so. Cool butter makes these cookies exceptionally yummy and thick!
    • Once the cookies start to brown on the edges, take them out of the oven, but do not overbake.  Underbaking is always a better option when baking cookies, to get that soft and chewy texture. Plus, once you pull them from the oven, they will continue baking.

These Black Forest Cake M&M's would be good in chocolate cookies as well!

Try them in Mega Quadruple Chocolate Cookies or these Chocolate Fudge White Chocolate Chip Cookies!  If you love cookie cakes, you may prefer them in this Marvelous Chocolate Chip Party Cookie Cake or in these Ultimate Gooey Brownies.  So many options, you know!?!

    Ingredients You Need

    • 1 & ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, cool/room temperature
    • ½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    • â…“ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 - 8 oz. bag Black Forest Cake M&M's (8 oz is 1 cup, so you can get by with one bag and add some chocolate chips, or add in some additional m&m's if desired.)
    • optional 1 cup white chocolate chips or chocolate chips of choice

How to Make Valentine's Day M&M Cookies

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper or spray with non-stick spray. (To get best results, use parchment paper)
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch and salt together.
    • In another large bowl, using an electric mixer at medium speed, beat together the butter, and sugars until smooth and mixed together well - 1 -2 minutes.
    • Add the egg and vanilla and mix on low speed until mixed in.
    • Gradually add the flour mixture and mix in until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
    • Add m&m's and any other add-ins at this time and stir with a wooden spoon, again without overmixing, just until incorporated.
    • Using a small or large ice cream scoop or heaping tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, 6 to 8 per pan, depending on size you are making.
    • Bake the cookies, 1 sheet at a time, until the bottoms and edges are lightly browned and the tops feel firm when lightly touched,
    • Small cookies bake 8-10 minutes, Medium cookies bake 10-13 minutes, ¼ cup - large cookies bake 12-14 minutes.
    • Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheets, then transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
    • Makes 16 -30 cookies depending on size.

    More Tips!

    • Butter Tips: To avoid flat cookies: Be sure your butter is cool or room temp (not melted or even softened).  If dough is warm: Just put it in the refrigerator to chill before baking.
    • Flour Tips: Measure flour correctly, and do not over-mix cookie batter especially after the flour is added.
    • Make sure your baking soda is not expired.
