Hey there! I'm wondering if you are properly creaming your butter and sugar properly? Chilled butter is too hard to break down and fully blend with the sugar. Overly soft or melted butter will whip up into frothy air bubbles, which eventually collapse into a greasy, wet batter and give you flat cookies, same goes with cakes and quick breads.
Beat the butter and sugar at a moderate speed for 2 to 3 minutes.
Here are some cookie tips and you could always add 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder or cream of tartar to thicken up cookies a bit too. Hope this helps!!

Please tell me how you chocolate cookies stay nice and thick. Mine always come out tasting good but are a bit to flat for me. I've tried not over mixing, I've tried the dough straight out the fridge and nothing seems to work..... help!

Chocolate chip cookies are a classic dessert everyone knows and loves, often always a favorite among family gatherings, potlucks, and more. It’s a fun and easy activity that everyone can do. Being so versatile, they can be made for many different occasions. For example, I make these particular cookies for birthdays, banquets, and parties as they are always a hit. I have used this recipe for two years now and every time they come out amazing. Each cookie is packed with bittersweet chocolate chips and achieves the perfect golden brown, crispy edges and gooey interior. One thing I love about this recipe is that not only is it very easy to follow, but it requires little time to make. There is no need for fancy equipment or certain skills, so beginners can easily follow along. Not to mention that the number of chocolate chips you add can be changed based on your own preference. Another reason I like this recipe is that the amount of sugar added is much less than other recipes. In some recipes, they say to add two cups of sugar on top of the added chocolate chips, while in this recipe it only requires half a cup of sugar. But just because there is less sugar in these cookies, doesn’t mean that they are any less flavorful. The cookies have just the right amount of sweetness, which compliments the semi-sweet chocolate perfectly. Pair with milk or whatever you like and these will surely satisfy your sweet tooth.
