Roll out the Red Carpet for these fun and decadent Red Velvet Tuxedo Brownies for any celebration!  All dressed up with a luscious white and chocolate frosting, these easy, red velvet brownies will impress and make a statement!

These Valentine's day brownies are so awesome for you Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, and a Queen of Hearts Card Party for sure, right? I can see it!  Like these 25 Drool-Worthy Red Velvet Dessert Recipes!

    Red Velvet Tuxedo Brownies

Why I LOVE these Red Velvet Cake Mix Brownies!

    • These Valentine's day brownies are made with a red velvet cake mix doctored up with only 3 ingredients. The icing is super easy to make as well.
    • With our Red Velvet Tuxedo Brownies, we did a modern twist on the Black and white cookie, using the same black and white frosting vibe, except we went with dramatic red velvet brownies for the base.
    • You have 2 frostings, but to make is super easy, we are making vanilla frosting.  Then, we simply just add in unsweetened cocoa powder to half of the vanilla frosting and we end up with two! If you want to just buy some vanilla and chocolate frosting, feel free to use that shortcut.  However this frosting is super easy to make and it's the perfect amount for the size of the brownies, without having a ton left over.
    • Other Frosting Options? If you want just vanilla frosting, omit the cocoa powder.  If you want just chocolate, double the cocoa powder for these Valentine's day brownies!

    Red Velvet Tuxedo Brownies

    Ingredients You Need

    Red Velvet Brownies

    • 1 box red velvet cake mix
    • canola oil or melted butter
    • egg
    • white or chocolate chips

    Tuxedo White Frosting

    • confectioners' sugar
    • unsalted butter room temperature, if using salted butter, you can omit salt for this
    • almond milk or milk more if needed
    • vanilla extract
    • salt

Tuxedo Chocolate Frosting (divide vanilla frosting and add cocoa powder to that batch)

    •  unsweetened cocoa powder

    Chocolate Sprinkles Or Chocolate Hearts

    • ¼ cup each of good quality European dark chocolate or white chocolate.
    • Use chopped chocolate from chocolate bars for sprinkling or for melting, if you want to make your own chocolate hearts.

How to Make Red Velvet Tuxedo Brownies

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8x8 inch pan with non-stick spray or line with parchment paper.

    Red Velvet Brownies

    1. Add cake mix, oil/melted butter and egg into a bowl and mix well until smooth. Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
    2. Pour cake mix brownies into pan and smooth out so it is even across the pan and cooks evenly. Bake for about 20-23 minutes or until edges are just slightly browned and middle is barely firm. Be sure not to overcook or they will be dry, we want gooey!
    3. Leave brownies in pan until they are completely cooled, before cutting or frosting.

    Tuxedo White & Chocolate Frostings

    1. Using a mixer, beat butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla until mixed well. Add some milk to make it creamy. We will add cocoa powder later.
    2. Divide frosting in half and frost one of half of brownies with vanilla frosting, as thick or as thin as you want.
    3. To the remaining vanilla frosting, add cocoa powder and whip together, adding milk if you need.
    4. Frost other half of brownies.
    5. For a modern twist make some chocolate hearts by melting white chocolate and dark chocolate separately. Place in ziplok bag and snip corner and pipe some hearts on some parchment paper until firm in fridge or freezer. Place the chocolate hearts on top of cut brownies. White chocolate hearts on chocolate frosting, dark chocolate hearts on vanilla frosting. Can also add chocolate sprinkles or chopped chocolate on top.

Hubby & I tried unsweet vanilla almond milk this morning.
We had it with our cereal. I liked it. He said it doesn't have much flavor.
We are setting out in 2015 with a goal to eat healthier.
So, we went to Trader Joe's and bought more almond milk, some coconut milk and some rice milk.

      Have a great weekend!
