How We Make Fruity Pebble Donuts!

For these donuts, you don’t need a lot of the cereal, because a little goes a long way.  Add anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 cup to the donut batter (or you can leave it out and just add it to the top).  Adding the cereal to the batter really brings out the fruit flavors nicely.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and brush your donut pan with oil or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Simply combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Whisk in the Greek yogurt (can also use sour cream), canola oil and an egg until just until combined. Stir in some Fruity Pebbles and you’re ready to start piping the donuts!
  3. Place a large round tip on the large decorating pastry bag or snip the corner of a zip-lock bag and fill the bag with dough and pipe around each well until it’s about 2/3 – 3/4 full.  They will rise, so do not overfill.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when lightly pressed. Remove from the oven to a cooling rack.
  5. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before releasing them, then top with frosting or glaze.

Top Fruity Pebble Donuts with Vanilla Frosting or Glaze:

You can make your own vanilla frosting, but for this recipe, we used Simple Mills frosting because it’s already made and quick.

I love it because it’s organic and tastes amazing and I prefer it to a vanilla glaze with these donuts.  I think the frosting balances out the donuts nicely, whereas I think the glaze would be more over the top with the sugar factor, but it’s up to you.

The frosting will be stiff, so place it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds until it’s easily spreadable.  Spread on top of donuts using an offset spatula or back of a spoon.  Sprinkle some Fruity Pebbles on top to your liking!

Making your own vanilla glaze is simple, just 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1 – 2 tablespoons of milk and a pinch of salt.  Dip the donuts in the vanilla glaze, return to the wire rack, and immediately top with some Fruity Pebbles. Allow glaze to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes before stacking or serving.

These vanilla donuts are also a great base recipe to use to make your own flavors by adding other extract flavors, berries, spices, mini chocolate chips, various frosting and glaze flavors and sprinkles galore!

Add your own favorite cereal if you want to keep the cereal-donut vibe!  The  fluffy texture of the donuts are amazing!!

Fluffy Fruity Pebble Donuts are the Best!

On a side note, we made these Fruity Pebbles Donuts with Greek yogurt, but of course you can also use sour cream.

It made them extra fluffy and moist and I love using Greek yogurt whenever possible in place of sour cream.  I always seem to have it on hand versus sour cream, plus the benefits are totally rewarding.

The best donuts are freshly made donuts! Even at room temperature, donuts are best the same day.

If you must, keep them in airtight containers overnight, and enjoy round two the next day!

    1. These are so much fun! My husband just bought a donut pan over the weekend, so we’ll have to break it in. 🙂 ~Valentina

    2. Oh my goodness! I can just imagine how long that would take and I don’t have much patience as most people, but I bet it was awesome when they got done. 🙂 Thank you so much Ben!

    3. I’ve watched a YouTube video where someone created a rainbow design (I think on donuts or cookies) out of Fruity Pebbles! It took forever to sort out the pebbles according to their colours. Also one or two colours were purely represented in that box! It also took forever to neatly arrange all those pebbles! Lol
Fruity Pebbles are a fun ingredient, and you’ve made some beautiful and delicious donuts!
