- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 16 oz. white chocolate chips or melting wafers
- Red, white and blue sprinkles, gold stars or Oreo crumbs, for decorating
How to Make Oreo Truffles
- Crush the Oreos (with filling) in a food processor or place in a zip-lock bag and crush with a rolling pin.
- Add the cream cheese and pulse or mix with rubber spatula until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop the mixture into balls about 1-inch in diameter - I like to use cookie scoop.
- Place the cookie balls in the freezer until well chilled, at least 15 minutes to an hour.
- Remove truffles from freezer and dip in melted chocolate chips or melts.
- Sprinkle with red, white and blue sprinkles, gold stars or anything patriotic colored or add reserved Oreo crumbs before the chocolate sets up.
- Let chocolate set, refrigerate and enjoy!
Tips for Oreo Truffle Recipe
- Use regular, not Double Stuf Oreos. Double stuff has too much cream filling for these.
- Use full fat cream cheese. It tastes better than the low-fat, it is thinner and not as rich.
- Be sure to chill the Oreo filling before you try to dip them, otherwise bits of Oreos will break off into the chocolate.
- Use a fork or dipping tool to dip in chocolate, then use a spoon to pour more chocolate over them, then lift and let excess run off.
- Storage & Freezer Options: For best results, store in an air tight container in the refrigerator up to 1 week or in the freezer up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight. They can sit at room temperature up to 2 hours when serving.
- Variation: You can use different flavor of Oreos, like the red velvet Oreos or the golden Oreos
are excellent!
