In this no bake cookie dough recipe, we substituted the eggs with sweetened condensed milk and heat treated our flour, making them totally safe to eat. Hooray!

These decadent bars are a perfect combination of a classic chocolate chip cookie dough and a rich dessert, and the best part? With just a handful of simple ingredients, you can create a batch of these mouthwatering bars in no time.  We are loving the red, white and blue sprinkles, perfect for the 4th of July!

Ingredients You Need

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars Recipe

Cookie Dough

  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened, if using salted butter, omit salt in recipe
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk, I like Eagle Brand
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • optional, 1/2 cup Birthday or seasonal red, white and blue sprinkles of choice

Chocolate Ganache Layer

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter can also use salted
  • Sprinkles of Birthday or seasonal sprinkles of choice

Instructions How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe Bars!

  • To make the Edible Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe: First start by treating your flour. Spread the flour on a large plate or baking dish to fit in your microwave. Microwave in a microwave-safe bowl for about 1 minute, adding additional 15 second increments as needed, until the flour reaches a temperature of 160 F.  OR, heat treat the flour by spreading it out on a baking sheet and baking it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.  Set aside.
  • Line a square 8 inch pan with parchment paper or foil.
  • In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer, cream the butter and brown sugar together for a couple minutes until it is light and fluffy for 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix in the vanilla.
  • Alternate adding the flour, and sweetened condensed milk, mixing on low, until everything is completely combined.
  • Stir in the salt and mini chocolate chips or whatever add-ins you want.  We went for some sprinkles with the chocolate chips!
  • Press the dough into the prepared pan in an even layer.
  • Place it in the fridge to chill for about 1-2 hours.

Chocolate Ganache Layer

  • Add the chocolate chips and butter to a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments until mixture is smooth by stirring at each increment.
  • Spread the chocolate evenly over the cookie dough.
  • Add more sprinkles for fun!
  • Place the bars in the fridge for another hour, up to overnight.
  • Carefully slice into bars and keep bars refrigerated until ready to serve.

Storing Bars

  • Store homemade edible cookie dough bars in the fridge for 2-4 days or freeze in freezer for 2 months in an airtight container. You can also freeze small amounts of dough and thaw it in the fridge when you want to use it.

  2. Haha answering your rhetorical question, I’m not really a fan of sprinkles (Yes these weird people do exist!) But I think it’s all about the textures. While I normally won’t consider a cookie or donut with sprinkles, I think cookie dough and sprinkles make sense together. Needless to say, this looks super fun!
