How to Make Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frosting

  1. Pretreat flour in microwave or oven.
  2. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth and combined.
  3. Add vanilla and beat until combined, followed by flour.
  4. Add the milk/cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a thick but spreadable consistency.

How to Heat Treat Flour for Frosting

By heat treating flour, we have 2 methods that will kill any harmful bacteria that may be present and it will make raw flour safe to consume.

  • Microwave Method: First start by treating your flour. Spread the flour on a large plate or baking dish to fit in your microwave. Microwave for about 1 minute, adding additional 15 second increments as needed, until the flour reaches a temperature of 160 F. (90 seconds works perfectly for me)
  • Oven Method: Heat treat the flour by spreading it out on a baking sheet and baking it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.

Whisk the flour to break up the flour chunks and let it cool down before using to make cookie dough frosting recipe.

To Make Vegan – Simply substitute vegan butter, non-dairy milk and vegan chocolate chips!  Easy & delish!

More Variations?  Add mini mint chocolate chipschopped Andes mints, mini m&m’s, chopped peanut butter cups, crushed peppermint, toffee chips, Oreo crumbs and so on!  You can really go to town coming up with flavor variations!
