You can eat raw cookie dough as long as it doesn’t have eggs and you can also pre-treat by heating the flour.

  1. Pretreat flour in microwave or oven – See notes how.
  2. Using a mixer, beat butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth and combined.
  3. Add vanilla and beat until combined, followed by flour.
  4. Add the milk/cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a thick but spreadable consistency.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  6. Add to your favorite brownies, cookies or cakes!
  • Frosts an 8×8 or 9×9 pan of brownies, double recipe for 9×13 pan.
  • Frosts 6 cupcakes, adjust settings for how many cupcakes you want to frost for.

This frosting also calls for flour, so if you are concerned about consuming raw flour, I am giving you 2 options you can choose to make it safe, quickly and easily before you incorporating your ingredients together. Then, resume the frosting recipe as normal once the flour has cooled.

To get a nice, light, and fluffy frosting, make sure to whip it until airy.  Milk or heavy cream will give this cookie dough frosting a light, airy texture. It also makes the frosting easier to spread or if you want to pipe it using a pastry bag with a large tip.

Use mini chocolate chips if you plan on piping the frosting.  The larger chocolate chips won’t pipe through easy if you use a pastry bag with a tip, but ok to use, if you want to frost a cake or brownies.
