How to Make Halloween Rice Krispie Treats

Peanut Butter Cereal Treats

  1. In a 4 quart saucepan, melt butter on low heat, slowly as to not burn.
  2. Once butter has melted, keep heat on low and add mini marshmallows.
  3. Once marshmallows begin to soften and melt, add peanut butter.
  4. Constantly, stir the mixture so the peanut butter does not burn and the marshmallows can evenly melt (won’t take too long, about 5 minutes or so).
  5. Once, mixture is combined and melted, turn off heat and remove pan from stove.
  6. Add rice krispies cereal to saucepan and stir until evenly coated with mixture until well combined.
  7. Once made, use your hands or use a scoop the size you wish to start making the balls. First use some butter or non-stick spray and spray on hands or scoop or both, so they don’t stick to you.
  8. Now, scoop Rice Krispies out and fill the scoop. Add some extra Rice Krispies on the top of your scooped cereal  and press down to get a rounder ball.
  9. Un-scoop onto parchment paper lined baking sheet, then finish rolling them in your hands, and place back on parchment paper.  If they aren’t sticking, compact them some more.
  10. Let the rice krispie party treats air dry for about an 30 minutes or overnight in a zip-lock bag.

White Chocolate Coating

  1. Melt chocolate for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  2. Dip one ball at a time and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet you are using already.  Add sprinkles and candies!  Let chocolate set. Sooo yummy!!

Melting White Chocolate Tips

  • For the white chocolate, I used Nestle, but you can also use candy melts or any premier white chocolate that melts well.
  • The key to melting chocolate in the microwave is to not overheat the chocolate too much.  Melt chocolate for 2 minutes, stirring well every 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  • If you want to thin it out, use 1 teaspoon of vegetable or canola oil and whisk it into the chocolate.
  • Dip one ball at a time and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet you are using already.  Add sprinkles and candies!  Let chocolate set. Sooo yummy!!
