    Sigh* & *Swoon*

If you love 7 layer bars, you are going to love these little pretties.  These actually are only 6 layer bars, minus the graham cracker crust that is normally associated with 7 layer bars, but it's all the same idea!  I am undeniably infatuated with the vibrant red color!  Are they not the coolest shade of red you ever saw as far as red velvet cake goes?

It literally put me in heaven nom-nomming on these yummy, rich flavored bars! Not a bad thing to be in heaven, right?  Sinful though!

Of course, it's the sweetened creamy condensed milk that make these bars so incredible moist and addicting. These Red Velvet 7 Layer Bars are O.M.G delicious! LOVE!

    Ingredients

    • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
    • ½ teaspoon baking powder
    • ⅛ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup butter softened
    • ¾ cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 3 tablespoons buttermilk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1 tablespoon liquid red food coloring
    • 1 ¼ cups sweetened shredded coconut
    • 1 cup dark chocolate chopped in chunks or dark chocolate chips
    • 1 cup white chocolate chopped in chunks or white chocolate chips
    • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk I used Eagle Brand
    • ⅔ cup almonds chopped or sliced can also use walnuts, pecans or macadamia nuts

    Instructions

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    • In a small bowl, combine/whisk together the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt, set aside.
    • Cream together the butter and sugar for 3 minutes.
    • Add the egg, buttermilk and red food coloring. Mix thoroughly.
    • Add the flour mixture. Mix well.
    • Spray a 9 x 9 pan with non-sticking cooking spray. Add parchment paper that overhangs the sides to cut into bars easier.
    • Spread the red velvet cake batter on the bottom of the pan and bake this for 15 minutes and remove from the oven.
    • First top with the cake with coconut, then the dark chopped chocolate or chips, then the white chopped chocolate or chips, followed by the almonds.
    • Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk over all the goodies.
    • Bake for another 30 minutes. Let set for at least 2 hours before cutting.
