How to Make Applesauce Bread Moist
- I used olive oil instead of softened or room temperature butter. Olive oil has great benefits and it also gives great texture and moistness. Other oils that you can use are vegetable oil, canola oil, avocado oil, melted coconut oil and melted butter.
- Greek yogurt, applesauce and eggs also play a huge part in making this loaf super flavorful and lush tasting as well.
- By not overmixing the batter, you will also yield a moister quick bread. By overmixing, the bread may become dry and the texture will be off.
Want this Applesauce Loaf Healthier?
- Replace all-purpose flour with ¾ cup of whole wheat flour
and decrease all-purpose flour to 1 cup from 1 ¾ cups.
- Olive oil
is a good choice for healthy fats. Canola oil, avocado and coconut oil are also heart-healthy choices.
- Use unsweetened applesauce
, versus sweetened applesauce.
- If using sweetened applesauce
, you can cut back on the sugars by a couple of tablespoons or whatever you feel comfortable with, without changing up the recipe too much by altering the texture.
- For sugar-free option: Use monkfruit sugar
in place of the granulated and brown sugars to cut out sugar all together and use unsweetened applesauce.
