To add to the excitement of the highly anticipated Halloween Eve, use your intuitive Spidey Senses and win everyone over with these Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies!

You'll love these thick and soft peanut butter cookies with home-made spooky spider peanut butter candy truffles on top!  Who's ready to party?  These 17 Tempting Peanut Butter Cookies should be on the list!

    Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies

You can make your spider truffles as ugly or cute as you want.  I attempted to find my red hot candies for red eyes for some of them to show you a contrast, but couldn't find them in my candy drawer. (It's a big candy drawer...but instantly my spidey senses kicked in and I feared someone ate them!)

I have people always getting into my special "candy drawer" and then magically, stuff comes up missing and no one knows a thing. Hmm...yea...that's how they roll around here...in denial.  🙂

    Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies

To make these spider truffles, I added some chocolate sprinkles to make them look kind of hairy and scary!  But you could leave them smooth or add your own special touches.

Just shape your peanut butter balls in the shape you want for your spiders.  I just went for simple, round and phat!

    Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies

    Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies

    Ingredients You Need

    Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

    • creamy peanut butter
    • unsalted butter, softened
    • granulated sugar
    • brown sugar
    • egg
    • vanilla extract
    • all-purpose flour
    • baking soda
    • teaspoon salt

    Spider legs

    • chocolate chips, I used a combo of semi-sweet and milk chocolate

    Peanut Butter Truffles

    • unsalted butter
    • creamy peanut butter
    • Pinch of salt or two
    • powdered sugar

    Chocolate Coating for Truffles

    • chocolate chips, I used a combo of semi-sweet and milk chocolate

How to Make Spider Peanut Butter Truffle Cookies!

Make the Peanut Butter Truffles (spider bodies)

    1. Using a mixer, beat the butter until creamy. Add the peanut butter and salt, and beat until smooth and combined. Add the powdered sugar, and beat on low until combined. The mixture will be crumbly, which is what you want.
    2. Roll the dough mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. You should have about 20 - 25 balls. refrigerate for 40-50 minutes or more. While the peanut butter balls are firming up, time to make the cookies!

    Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line baking sheet with parchment paper.
    2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt, set aside..
    3. Using a mixer, in a separate bowl, cream together the peanut butter, butter and sugars until soft and creamy.
    4. Add the egg and vanilla extract and continue to mix until fully combined.
    5. Add these dry ingredients to your large bowl slowly, continuously mixing using your mixer.
    6. Roll the dough into 1 to 1 ½ -inch balls and place on an ungreased, parchment-lined baking sheet. Using your thumb,, press your thumbprint down on each ball of dough to create a small bowl.
    7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or as soon as tops begin to slightly crack.
    8. To keep them soft and chewy, be careful to not overbake.
    9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.

    Making Spider Truffle Cookies

    1. Once the cookies are cooled, melt the chocolates to a microwave-safe bowl, and heat in 20 second intervals, stirring after each one, until melted and smooth. Leave to cool for a few minutes. Pour into a ziplock bag and snip the end.
    2. Starting from the center of the cookie, make 8 legs drawing each chocolate leg out to the cookie edge, thin or thick, whatever you want.
    3. Time to add the spider bodies on top of the legs.
    4. Take your peanut butter balls out of the fridge and get ready to coat them.
    5. Add the chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl, and heat in 20 second intervals, stirring after each one, until melted and smooth. Leave to cool for a few minutes.
    6. Dip each peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate, and place each ball into the middle of the cookies, where you put that thumbprint with the legs sticking out. I used a plastic fork and it worked well and do these one a time.
    7. Add eyeballs, sprinkles or whatever you want to make them complete after you dip each one.  Don't dip and decorate later.
    8. Let truffles set in the cookies. You can quick-set them to get the chocolate to harden by placing them in the fridge for a 5-10 minutes.
    9. Enjoy double peanut butter deliciousness!

Love these creepy spiders and the cookies...adorably spooky. The best part about them is that they are not difficult at all and the brilliance of this recipe is that the the cavity stays intact even after baking. Great recipe!
