What’s “red, white and blue” and tastes like a dream? “Oh say can you sing?!” This ‘Star Spangled’ Yogurt Pie‘ is what I’m sweetly singing about!

This luscious dessert is creamy, light and so pleasingly fresh and it can be served two ways.  Which do you prefer? Fridge or freezer-style? More yogurt dessert ideas? Check out these 20 Dessert Recipes Using Greek Yogurt!

If we’re voting, I loved both ways, go figure!

The best part was the strawberry mixture in the center.  The sweet and tart fruit is so yummy along with the graham cracker crust with the yogurt filling.  This greek yogurt pie is just incredibly delicious.

I just added some strawberries and blueberries to the top, because it looked like it needed a little something to me.  Look how freaking pretty it is with a simple design!

I used Yoplait 100 Greek yogurt in this dessert, but you can definitely use full flavor Greek Yogurt.  I haven’t tried it with regular yogurt, but I don’t think it would work with this.

The difference between Greek yogurt from traditional yogurt is that Greek yogurt has been strained to remove the whey, which gives Greek yogurt that creamier, thicker texture and rich flavor. Plus, there’s also a lot less sugar, sodium and more than twice the amount of protein than traditional yogurt.

It is loaded with nutrients and provides numerous health benefits. I love using Greek Yogurt as much as I can!

Star Spangled Yogurt Pie {Ice Box or Freezer}

Serving & Storing ‘Star Spangled’ Yogurt Pie

I served it ice box (from the fridge) style first. Afterwards, I put it in the freezer, completely sealed.  I took it out of the freezer a couple of hours later and had a sliver of this heaven, while it was partially frozen and it was so good, so both ways, amazing delicious!  If you have it frozen, let it thaw 15 minutes or so before diving in.

Other Options for Fruit Yogurt Dessert

  • If you want other variations to your ‘Star Spangled’ Yogurt Pie’, you can always add in any kind of seasonal fruit mix-ins that you have on hand or your favorite flavors.
  • Combine the yogurt with your fruit instead of putting it in between the 2 layers of yogurt/whipped cream like I did.
  • You could even make a granola crust or incorporate the graham crackers with some nuts if you wanted too. There are so many options for this greek yogurt pie, so don’t be afraid to experiment.  I want to make a chocolate version now.  Maybe chocolate and strawberries?
