Oreo Cookies with Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting

OREO COOKIES

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer, mix the melted butter and sugars together until mixture is well combined and creamy.  Add the egg and combine, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • In another small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and then add it to the wet mixture.  Mix together. (If mixture is crumbly, add a tablespoon of milk.)
  • Add the chopped oreos and combine.
  • Using a large cookie scoop, place the cookie dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-16 minutes. Make sure the tops are not wet when you take the cookies out of the oven, they will need to bake a couple more minutes if that is the case.
  • Once the cookies are done, let them rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving them to a cooling rack.  Make the Oreo Cream Cheese Frosting.

OREO CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

  • In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer, mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla until you get a smooth and creamy consistency. Add in the chopped oreos. If frosting is too thick, add a little milk to thin it out.

FROSTING THE COOKIES

  • Once the cookies are cooled, you can frost the cookies with an offset spatula and top with more Oreo cookie bits if desired. Enjoy!
