Ingredients
1 11-12ouncebag or 2 cups dark, white, milk, peanut butter or semi-sweet chocolate chips, melts or almond bark
1tablespoonvegetable shortening or vegetable oil
Toppings like sprinkles, marshmallows, candies, sea salt, toffee, pretzels, nuts, peppermint, cookie bits, etc.
Instructions
Line a 10x15-inch pan with parchment or wax paper.
Melt chocolate (chips, melts, or almond bark) with shortening or oil in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second increments and stirring until smooth.
Spread melted chocolate evenly on the prepared pan to about 1/4-inch thickness.
Add desired toppings, chill to set, then break into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 4 days to 2 weeks (toppings like pretzels may not stay fresh as long).
Variations
Peppermint Bark: Layer melted dark and white chocolate, sprinkle with crushed candy canes or peppermint crunch. Let layers cool at room temperature to avoid separation before breaking.
M&M Cowboy Bark: Top melted chocolate with M&Ms, pretzels, peanuts, and marshmallows. For extra flavor, mix marshmallows into melted chocolate before spreading.
Peanut Butter Swirl Bark: Swirl melted peanut butter chips into milk or semi-sweet chocolate, then top with toffee bits and sea salt for crunch.
Snowmen Bark: Add Snowmen Peeps and sprinkles for a festive touch.
