Red White Blue Krispie Bites

These Red White Blue Krispie Bites are thick, gooey brown butter rice krispie squares dipped in creamy white chocolate and finished with a red swirl or zig-zag drizzle, then topped with patriotic sprinkles. No-bake, easy, and perfect for any 4th of July celebration.

Equipment

Ingredients

Rice Krispie Base

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows reserve 1 cup for stirring in at the end
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Decorations

  • 6 oz white chocolate (melting wafers or almond bark)
  • 2-3 oz red melting chocolate
  • red, white & blue sprinkles

Instructions

Make the Brown Butter Krispie Base

  • Line an 8x8 pan with parchment and lightly butter or spray it.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons unsalted butter. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden brown, smells nutty, and brown specks form on the bottom. Turn heat to low.
  • Add all but the reserved 1 cup of mini marshmallows. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • Stir in 5 cups Rice Krispies cereal until fully coated, then fold in the reserved 1 cup mini marshmallows for extra gooey pockets.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Press lightly with buttered hands or parchment. Don't compact too hard or they'll lose their soft texture.
  • Let set 30-45 minutes, then cut into 16 squares.

Decorate the Krispie Bites

  • Melt 6 oz white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
  • Dip the tops of each square straight down into the melted white chocolate. Lift and let excess drip off.
  • Melt 2-3 oz red melting chocolate. For a swirl: add a few drops of red on top of the white and swirl with a toothpick. For a zig-zag: drizzle thin lines back and forth across the top.
  • Add red, white & blue sprinkles immediately so they stick to the chocolate. Let set until firm.

Notes

Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days. Freeze individually wrapped for up to 1 month.
