Ingredients

  • 1 batch of brownies for 8x8 pan baked (I used Betty Crocker Dark Chocolate Brownie 19.9 oz. Mix) - Makes 9 large or 12 smaller brownies.
  • 1 batch of Vanilla Buttercream Frosting or you can use pre-made vanilla frosting if you want an easy shortcut for the Frankenstein faces.
  • Food Coloring Gels I used Green, Red, Black colors
  • Candies Use whatever you want to accessorize but I used bloody bones, skulls and pearl chocolate candies (sixlets).

Instructions

Prepping the Brownies & Make the Frosting Colors

  • Prepare brownies as directed on box and let cool completely.
  • Slice the brownies into squares.
  • Make the buttercream frosting below in notes or purchase some pre-made and make green, black and red frosting as well as leaving some of the white frosting.
  • Spread a layer of green icing on top of each brownie.

How to Decorate the Frankenstein Brownies

  • Using the black decorating icing and a star tip, fill in the hair to your Frankenstein brownie. Add an upper headline if you want with a stitch, for a dramatic effect.
  • With the black frosting, using a small round tip, to each of the brownies, add eyes, a mouth and scars/stitches wherever you wish.
  • Add some white dots to the eyes, if you wish or fill in with candies.
  • For Mr. Frankenstein, add some bloody bones to the sides of the neck. Add any other skulls or whatever candies you want at this time.
  • Ready to serve up some creepy, yet cute monster Halloween brownies!

How to Decorate the Bride of Frankenstein Brownies

  • Using the black decorating icing and a star tip, fill in the hair to your Frankenstein brownie. Add 2 white frosting zig-zag lines with a small star or round tip in the hair to give her the black and white hair.
  • With the black frosting, using a small round tip, to each of the brownies, add eyes, a mouth and scars/stitches wherever you wish. For Frankenstein’s bride, you can do a red mouth to make her look super cute using a small round tip.
  • Add some white dots to the eyes, if you wish or fill in with candies.
  • Add some sixlets on the sides of the neck to doll her up! Add any other skulls or whatever candies you want at this time.
  • Ready to serve up some girly Halloween monster brownies!

Notes

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting Recipe

  • 1½ cups unsalted butter , softened
  • 5-6 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract or cake batter extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

  1. Using mixer on a medium setting, cream the butter until it is smooth and has lightened in color, about 3 minutes.
  2. Add confectioner's sugar, ½ a cup at a time. After each cup has been incorporated, turn the mixer onto the highest speed setting and for about 10 seconds to lighten the frosting.
  3. Add vanilla and a pinch of salt and combine until well-incorporated.
  4. Add heavy cream until the frosting has reached the preferred consistency.
  5. For a firmer frosting, add more confectioner's sugar, a ¼ cup at a time.
  6. For a softer frosting, add more milk or cream, a tablespoon at a time.
