To Freeze Bananas

  • Take the banana peels off and slice them up into discs or chunks.
  • Place the pieces on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Put the sheets on a level surface in the freezer and freeze them for 2 to 3 hours.
  • Once they are frozen solid, transfer them to a freezer bag, squeeze out the air, and close the bag. Store them in the freezer for up to 3 months.

To Thaw Bananas

  • Transfer the needed amount of frozen banana slices to a bowl and leave them at room temperature for about an hour. In a hurry? Microwave them in 30-second bursts, stirring in between.
  • Once thawed, mash them up and measure the amount your recipe calls for. Extra liquid? Drain it or add it for extra moisture, depending on your recipe.
