Ingredients

  • 6 Granny Smith Gala or Honeycrisp Apples or whatever your favorite is
  • 1 package individually wrapped caramels 14 ounce, unwrapped
  • 2 Tablespoons milk or heavy cream

Chocolate

  • white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, colored candy melts Measure 1/2 cup of chocolate chips per apple as a base measure. Add remaining chocolate into a pastry bag or ziplock bag for extra drizzles on apples.

Your Choice of Bling

  • Mini Reese's or M&Ms Marshmallows, Pecans, Mini Chocolate Chips, Melted Chocolate Swirls, Cookie Crumbs or Pieces, Toffee Bits, Candy Bar Bits, Raisins, Peanuts, Cashews, Skittles, Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Press a craft stick into the top. Butter or place parchment paper down on a baking sheet.

Melt the Caramel

  • Place caramels and milk in a microwave safe bowl, and microwave 2 minutes, stirring once let cool briefly.
  • Roll each apple quickly in caramel sauce until well coated.

Melt the Chocolate & Add Bling

  • You melt the chocolate, basically the same way you melted the caramel, except stir the chocolate every 30 seconds until completely melted, for approximately 2 minutes.
  • Dip apples one at a time in the melted chocolate, then add choices of bling to the sides in a timely fashion before the chocolate firms up, so everything sticks to your chocolate covered caramel apples.
  • Place on parchment paper and put in fridge for 5-10 minutes to set up faster.

Notes

  • Melt choices of chocolate you want to use from semi-sweet, white chocolate, milk chocolate or colored candy melts if you want to make a statement!  Put leftover chocolate into a ziplok bag or pastry bag and use it for fancy swirls or drips on your caramel apples!
