Ingredients You Need
- heavy whipping cream
- Ghirardelli 100% unsweetened cocoa
- low-carb powdered sugar sweetener
, I used Lakanto Monkfruit Sugar Powdered Sugar Sweetener
How to Make the Best & Fluffiest Keto Chocolate Mousse
- Using mixer and large bowl, mix the heavy whipping cream and sweetener on medium-low speed until it thickens up.
- Add cacao powder and beat until stiff peaks form.
- Divide keto chocolate mousse between 4 serving glasses and decorate as desired.
How To Make this Keto Chocolate Mousse Recipe Extra Special
- Use a large piping bag with any star tip you have and fill it up with mousse. Pipe it out and make it look pretty by adding your own special swirling touches.
- Maybe add some dark chocolate chips or grated chocolate on top, but it's not necessary, because it's very chocolatey tasting as is.
Storage & Tips for 3 Ingredient Low-Carb Chocolate Mousse Recipe
- Chill in the refrigerator for just a few minutes after preparing or serve immediately. This will keep your mousse from having that ‘deflated’ texture.
- When properly stored, it can last for 5 to 6 days in the fridge. Freezing not recommended.
- For a lighter keto chocolate mousse recipe, reduce chocolate 1 tablespoon or so.
- Use a sugar free sweetener like erythritol, allulose or a monk fruit blend powdered sweetener to ensure you have a smooth, creamy mousse. Using granulated sweeteners can cause your keto mousse to be grainy or gritty.

How Chocolate Wrappers Evolved Over the Years: A Quick Look
Kim Lange says
CJ thank you so much for trying the recipe and your lovely review! I appreciate it so much and so happy it was so delicious! The chocolate chip addition sounds yum!
CJ says
I stirred in Lily's sugar free chocolate chips, they're small size, so they are delicious.
Plus, I used the sugar free confectioner's sugar, no gritty texture.

That sounds amazing with the fresh cherries and jello! I'm going to have to give that a go! Thank you so much for trying it Marie and for your awesome review!!! xo
Marie A Stearns says
Thank you for this easy, delicious and versatile chocolate recipe that is so light, fluffy and tasty without using heavy cream cheese. I did add a small amount of vanilla, and as I mixed it, I added a little more cocoa and sweetner to get the exact flavor that I wanted. I cut up fresh cherries and added them. I made a parfait of this with cherry sugar-free Jello and it was so unbelievably delicious!
Kim Lange says
Hi Jaime! Yes you could use one of those and one of the biggest advantages of xylitol is that it measures 1:1 like sugar in terms of sweetness, so it should be the same. You could frost a cake with it, but keep it refrigerated since it is dairy-based. Hope you enjoy!
Jaime says
I can't rate as I haven't tried this yet (but it LOOKS amazing!!). However, I was wondering:
1) could one use granulated xylitol or erythritol sweetener (like Swerve or Truvia) and if so would the measurement change?
2) Could this hold up to being used to frost a cake?
Kim Lange says
Awesome! I did not know you could do that but cool to know Estella!! Thank you for the tip!
Estella says
I used vanilla skinny syrup to sweeten and it came out awesome!
Kim Lange says
Yes definitely it will hold up Kristin! Enjoy!
Kristin says
Can you store this overnight? Will it hold up?
Kim Lange says
That's so awesome that your daughter loved it as well! Thank you so much Shauwan for letting me know!! xo
Shauwan Daniels says
LOVE this simple recipe. My 10 year old daughter who’s picky, enjoyed it as well.
Kim Lange says

Erin says
Are you using granular or confectioners sweetener? Thanks!
Kim Lange says
I'm so happy you enjoyed it Teri! Thank you so much!
Teri says
OH MY CHOCOLATEY GOODNESS!!! Very rich but sooo good!!!
Kim Lange says
Yes you could Sue. Once you start getting the stiff peaks, add it in and taste test!
Sue says
Could you use honey for the sweeetner?
Elizabeth says
I am obsessed!!!! So amazingly fantastic!!! My new go to Keto dessert!!! Came out perfect!! I used about 2 cups of heavy whipping cream, 3 small packets of Stevia (what I had in hand) and about a tbs of unsweetened cocoa. Wow!! Never thought it would be that easy!! I indulged bc I was ovulating (lol) and topped it with blueberries and 2 cherries! It was my first cheat night, in 3 weeks. I was weak but thank you so much!!!
Tami Stafford says
Wow!! I just got done making this and I was tempted to stick my whole head in the mixing bowl to lick every last bit out! A few weeks ago I decided to cut added sugars from my diet because I got Covid and lost my taste and smell. Now that I have it back, I was really craving a chocolate dessert and boy did this hit the spot! This is also my first time using monk fruit sweetener and I’ll never use anything else. No aftertaste, just chocolate perfection! Thanks so much for the recipe!! 🙂
Kim Lange says
That is awesome to hear Karen! Thank you so much and yes guilt-free with a few bites is like heaven if you ask me! Happy New Year!!
Karen says
Before recently starting Keto I could and did slam all forms of sweets uncontrollably. My sweet tooth was screaming for something. I made this recipe and it is ah-maz-ing. Although it honestly tastes so good it is so rich I could only have a few bites. I am so grateful for a guilt free treat!!
Ltucker97838 says
Well I screwed it up from the get go. Dumped the cocoa powder into the cream and realized I should not have. Nothing to loose except a little heavy cream so I dumped the monk fruit sweeter in and proceed to mix. Have to say it turned out ok. Added some raspberries and everyone chowed down. Thanks for a quick, easy, fast treat.
Kim Lange says
Hi Fay, this recipe makes 4 serving portions with the calories, etc in the recipe card. Is that what you were referring to?
Fay Kato says
Can't wait to try this tonight
In case I may have missed it
What is the serving portion please.
Thanks Fay
Magan says
That would be right. 2g fiber subtracted from carbs would make it 5 net carbs.
Kim Lange says
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Terri! Thank you so much for trying it!
Terri says
This is absolutely decadent! I did add a little vanilla and in my opinion it made the taste even better!
Kim Lange says
Hi Kathy! I looks like 7 carbs to me for each serving. Hope you try it! xo
Kathy says
I see the nutritional info but would the bet carbs be 5?
Kim Lange says
The nutrition is at the bottom of the recipe and it's calculated per serving. Hope that helps Candy! Thank you!
Candy Winter says
How many servings or nutrition per serving, Please!
Kim Lange says
unsweetened cocoa powder, not cocao. Sorry about that Marie!
Marie Sidonie says
Hi Kim,
Is cocoa used in this recipe or cacao? One is used in the ingredient list, the other in the instructions. Thanks.
Kim Lange says
That's great to hear Janice! I'm so thrilled to hear!! Thank you so much! xo
Janice says
I used the powdered monkfruit sweetener and it turned out very smooth. I didn’t use quite
1/3 c because it’s very sweet. Mine turned out great!
Katie says
Tried making this and the flavor was spot on! Unfortunately, the sugar substitute (granulated monkfruit didnt dissolve all of the way and the texture was grainy. Any recommendations? Btw, the texture didnt stop me from eating it! 🙂
Kim Lange says
I just updated it in the nutritional part of the recipe. Thank you!! 🙂
Kim Lange says
Terri, I just updated it in the nutritional part of the recipe. Thank you!! Hope you enjoy! xo

This looks delish!! Have you tried the Artisan bread yet? I usually bake my own keto bread and wondered about the taste and texture.
Valentina says
YUMMY! And it's so pretty! (Love those gorgeous roses in top image behind the mousse, too.) Pinning! 🙂 ~Valentina
Michelle says
This is delicious! I happened to have all of the ingredients in my pantry and fridge, so I whipped this up in 5 minutes, literally. I used monk fruit as stevia upsets my stomach. I will say that it’s quite rich, so I’ll make a little plain whipped cream to cut through the richness next time. Yum!
Kelsie | the itsy-bitsy kitchen says
This looks so rich and creamy, I'm swooning!
