This yogurt-inspired cake is made from scratch and it’s super easy to make with the addition of peaches.  I love making and baking desserts the old-fashioned way, homemade from scratch versus using shortcuts.

Don’t get me wrong, I still will use cake, cookie and brownie mixes for shortcuts, but the flavors just seems to be sooooo much better in desserts when it’s actually homemade. Probably because of all the love I put into it, right?

This peach cake recipe is Ina Garten’s recipe, with the exception of Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and I added a little extra cinnamon. The Greek yogurt helps make the cake moist, healthy and adds protein as well!

  1. Hi Jane! This wouldn’t be diabetic unless you switch out the sugar for a healthy sugar, otherwise I think it would be fine for your friend. Here’s a list of healthier yums. I have an Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake I think would be great that is sugar-free as well. You could switch out the apples with the peaches or whatever fruit you would like. That is so sweet of you, I’m sure they will love your sweet gesture!

  2. Can you please list the Nutritional information. I would like to make this for a friend of mine with diab.etes. Or if you have a similar recipethat is more diabetic friendly., pleasepost.

    Thank you

  3. Looks amazing, need to try this. Bet this would be scrumptious with Apples in the fall too

  4. Yes you could use canned peaches. Del Monte is a good brand to use, but any kind should be ok. Just drain them well. 🙂 Hope you enjoy and thanks so much for asking and wanting to make it! xo

  5. Hi Kim,

This looks and sounds ggamazing!! I absolutely love..love..LOVE peaches!! I’m always so sad to see the end of summer and early fall when peaches have come and gone! ? It’s the second week of Nov. but I will checking my local store for peaches that may be appealing so I can make this!!! ? But in case I strike out can I use can peaches? If so, is there a particular kind I use?

I’m hoping you’re not to busy to answer my question. It sounds so yummy!!

    Thanks!

  6. Tried this, I think I would go a 1/2 cup more of yogurt and 25 degrees lower in the oven. Mine was generally great, but the crust is a little overcooked (the inside is gorgeous and fluffy), and the cake is slightly dry for my taste (I like really moist cakes).

  7. Have some peaches that need using and this sounds a delicious way. Thanks for all the scrumptious recipes in your emails. My family love them.

  8. Thanks for the recipe. I feel like such a heretic for using leftover canned peaches for the cake! But it looks beautiful in the oven, smells great, can’t wait to taste…

  9. I am really lpokimg forward to baking this delish, but I have a question-in my country we have big and small sticks of butter, the big one is 250g and the small one is 125g, so my queation is how much butter do I use? I’d be happy if you replied, have a nice day/evening. 🙂
