There’s a lot of Halloween food that I cannot make myself make or taste if it looks gory or scary.  I just can’t bring myself to it. I could never do the disgusting food they eat on “Naked & Afraid” or “Survivor” shows, either!  Thank you, but no thank you!

That’s why I go for cute and fun. ha!   Only thing is, I’ll warn ya now.  They are very addictive, so you might not want them sitting idle without a purpose in mind, like a party!!!

The kiddos will absolutely want to devour these sweet rice krispie ghosts without having the nightmares. (Like me <– I’m the biggest scaredy cat ever when it comes to the scary stories, paranormal and unknown hellish stuff and I sure don’t want nightmares over hair-raising finger foods…YIKES!)

But I realize, some kids and adults are into scary stuff and the gory-er the better, because it’s fun to experience the mysterious Halloween spirit, so it’s all good ya know.

Ingredients You Need for Ghost Rice Krispies

How To Make Halloween Rice Krispies Ghosts

  1. Spray a 9 x 13 pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Melt butter on low heat in a large saucepan.
  3. Add mini marshmallows and once marshmallows begin to soften and melt, add peanut butter and constantly stir the mixture so the peanut butter does not burn.
  4. Once, mixture is combined and melted, turn off heat and remove pan from stove.
  5. Add rice krispie cereal to sauce pan and stir until evenly coated with mixture. (Make sure not to add more rice krispie cereal than the recipe calls for or they won’t be soft and chewy)
  6. Pour mixture into 9 x13 pan, and pat down mixture with parchment paper, pressing it on top of the mixture and patting down or spray your hand with some nonstick cooking spray and pat down the mixture until firmly compacted. Allow 30-45 minutes for treat
  7. Using cookie ghost cutter, cut out the ghosts and set aside. (Or you can cut into squares and mold them into ghosts)
  8. Place Ghirardelli Chocolate in microwave-safe container. Microwave up to 2 minutes, and within the 2 minutes, microwave at 15 second intervals and stir until smooth. Overheating will cause wafers to burn.
  9. Dip ghosts into chocolate and then decorate as you wish.

For the Ghost Faces!

  • If you want a more fearful affect, I’d go for red eyes, like mini m&m’s or red hots.
  • You can create your own scary or cute faces and get creative with whatever you have around the house. Use chocolate chips, sprinkles, frosting and colored melting chocolate are great ideas to incorporate into your ghostly ghosts.

Once you’re finished with the ghosts, let the chocolate firm up before storing them in a ziplock or airtight container, so they don’t stick to each other. Set them out on a cute party tray and watch these rice krispie ghosts treats disappear!
