Ingredients You Need

If you want to heat-treat your all-purpose flour

Heat-treating the flour ensures that the bad bacteria are killed, so that the flour can be used in no-bake desserts.

  • First start by treating your flour. Spread the flour on a large plate or baking dish to fit in your microwave. Microwave for about 1 minute, adding additional 15 second increments as needed, until the flour reaches a temperature of 160 F.  OR, heat treat the flour by spreading it out on a baking sheet and baking it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.  Set aside.

Mix this up in a few minutes!  Here’s How!

  • Using mixer, cream butter and sugars in a bowl, until smooth.
  • Add milk, salt and vanilla and mix until well combined.
  • Add flour until mixed well.
  • Cover tightly with plastic wrap or lid until ready to use. Best if NOT refrigerated. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator as well. Freeze for up to three months.

Notes

There is a small risk you can still get sick from eating raw flour.  You can choose to heat the flour in the microwave to eliminate some of the risk of bacteria but still consume this dough at your own risk by pouring flour into a microwave safe bowl and heat on high for 1 and half minutes, then continue with the rest of the ingredients and instructions.

  1. You don’t have to refrigerate this Brenda. Since there are no raw eggs, all good. I updated the instructions to show how you can store it once it’s made. Enjoy!! 🙂

  2. Is there such a edible cookie dough that you do not have to refrigerate? Using no eggs? Thanks for your time regarding my question.

  3. The problem is less the raw eggs and more the raw flour. You are more likely to get sick from eating raw flour than you are from getting salmonella from raw eggs. This recipe still includes flour so it’s still pretty bad to eat.

  4. I love egg free cookie dough, but I do nibble at raw cookie dough when baking cookies, too. 🙂

  5. Hello! I’ve been searching for edible/egg free cookie dough! can salted butter be substituted?

  6. Hi Kara! Sounds like you’re having some major cookie dough cravings! 🙂 Anyways, it simply is meant to be an edible cookie dough without eggs. I wouldn’t recommend baking it, unless you add in an egg and some baking soda. You could freeze it up to a couple of months and pop some cookie dough bites whenever! Congrats on the baby-to-be! That is awesome!

  7. Can I bake these, too? I’m all for raw cookie dough, but now I can’t (unless it’s like this!!) because I’m pregnant. My husband doesn’t really care for cookie dough. Can I eat the cookie dough, bake the cookie dough, and freeze some cookie dough? At what temp and how long?
