What Are Brown Sugar Brownies?

These Brown Sugar Brownie Bars are just sweet enough, but not ultra rich, like blondies can be.  They still resemble the warm buttery, brown sugar tones you get with blondies. Plus, they are very addictive and delectably delicious.

As a result, I love how the ingredients are all pantry staples as well! Sometimes simple is best when it comes to baking and hard to believe it’s as good as it is without all the extras!

  1. Either way is fine, but of course roasted pecans will definitely add more natural, nutty flavor to your bars. Enjoy Jennifer!!

  2. Hi! Just found your recipe. I’m thinking of making them with pecans. Do you think I should roast the pecans first?
    Thanks

  3. Wow! Melt in your mouth, unbelievable. Followed recipe exactly except I only had 9×9 pan so I baked about 30 min.

  4. That sounds fabulous with the toffee powder! I’ve never used that before, so I’ll have to check that out! Thank you so much for the awesome review and trying them Maggie! xo

  5. Found this recipe when I did a search for ‘recipes using brown sugar’. I saw your suggestions for adding extras such as toffee, peanut butter cups, etc. I happened to have toffee powder on hand. I used 1/3 toffee powder and 2/3 brown sugar in place of 1 cup of the brown sugar. Delicious!

  6. I’m not sure if you mean to replace the brown sugar or just adding it in extra, but if just adding it in, I think it would be ok if you’re looking for sweeter brownies. If it’s replacing, you would have to add more than 1/3 cup maple syrup. Hope you enjoy Lerma! xo

  7. Hi Bridget! The dough is thick, like a very soft cookie dough but should still be spreadable. Did you measure the flour correctly and how did they turn out?

  8. Currently have my second batch in three days in the oven. Added peanut butter chips and dark chocolate chips. Simple, delicious base for so many combinations possible. Thanks!

  9. You are killing me with these bars!! I can just taste the buttery brown sugar goodness!! And that texture is insane, I’m going to have to move into your kitchen!! 😉

  10. After having tried your fantastic chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies I decided your recipes were winners. I made this and my husband and I ate the whole thing ourselves in two days. It’s wonderful and you can personalize it. Thanks!

  11. Kim, I love this easy recipe, and anything with brown sugar has my name all over it. These are so simple and gorgeous, I’m tempted to jump up and make them right now! ?

  12. Mmmmm while I am still enjoying (relatively) light and summer desserts, I must admit these brown sugar bars look and sound beautiful; simple, rich, and buttery. I actually don’t think they require any addition like chocolate chips… But I clearly see I can use some of my favourite lavender. And some ice cream and fresh berries (Cause remember: light and summery!) on top won’t hurt either.

  13. My 13-yr-old’s best buddy doesn’t like chocolate (GASP!), so I’m always wanting to make yummy non-chocolate treats when he’s over. These are next up. I’m sure we’ll love these for all of the reasons you listed that you do! 🙂
