Ooey Gooey Salted Caramel Butter Cake Bars

Ready to be hooked? These dangerously scrumptious, melt-in-your-mouth bars scream gooey salted caramel cheesecake with a great chewy, buttery shortbread crust. Scha-wing!

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 box Butter Yellow Cake mix or any flavor you want
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 1 egg

Salted Caramel Layer

  • ½ cup salted caramel topping add up to 1 cup if you want, especially for a 9x13 pan size.

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Crust

  • Mix cake mix, melted butter and egg, in a medium-sized bowl until well combined.
  • Press the cake mix dough evenly in the bottom of a greased 9x9 baking pan.

Salted Caramel Layer

  • Pour salted caramel topping over the crust evenly. (Microwave if needed to pour easier)

Cream Cheese Layer

  • In another medium-sized bowl, using a mixer, cream the cream cheese, then add in the beaten eggs until smooth. Add powdered sugar and continue to beat until well combined.
  • Pour cream cheese mixture over crust and about 35-40 minutes or until done. (Do not over bake.)
  • When done, transfer bars from oven and let cool completely before cutting.

Notes

Pan Sizes You Can Use

  • For thick bars: 9x9 pan bake 35-40 minutes.
  • For regular sized bars: 9x13 pan bake 25-30 minutes (use 3/4 cup salted caramel)
