Ingredients

Dark Fudge Brownie Mix

  • 1 package fudge brownie mix 20 ounce, prepare brownie box instructions
  • ¼ cup Kahlua

Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons Kahlua

Topping

  • Snickers 8 oz bag, chopped into slices or quarters - divide into 2 groups for layers or cut up 4 large Snickers bars, divided

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 325. Spray an 8-inch or 9-inch square pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
  • Prepare brownie mix and stir in 1/4 cup Kahlua in medium-large bowl and prepare according to instructions on brownie box) and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, use mixer and beat together the cream cheese.
  • Then add in sugar, mix and then add in 2 tablespoons Kahlua and egg yolk until evenly blended.
  • Pour half the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  • Drop half the cream cheese mixture by spoonfuls over the brownie batter, divide the Snickers into 2 groups, then add one-half of the Snickers on top of cream cheese and brownie mixture.
  • Pour the other half of the brownie batter on top, then spoon drop the rest of the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie mix again.
  • Use the blade of a knife to gently swirl the brownie batter and cream cheese filling together.
  • Bake until the edges of the brownies have puffed up slightly, and center not quite firm when touched lightly.
  • Use a toothpick and insert in the center, so it comes out with moist crumbs - 40 to 45 minutes.
  • After the brownies are done, add the other half of the Snickers to the top of the brownies and let cool, cut and serve!

Notes

If you don't want to use Kahlua, use 1/2 tsp vanilla extract in the cream cheese batter and omit from brownie mix.
These will also freeze well too.
You can use a whole egg in cream cheese mixture, but the egg yolk alone doesn't thin out the recipe as much and egg yolks are mainly fat, so they add creaminess and richness making the cheesecake in the brownies very moist.
Recently I updated brownie mix ingredients above - previously I had what my brownie mix calls for in the ingredients list and I took them out so there is no confusion and to clarify to prepare brownies as called out on your box instructions.
