These Blondie Brownies are a knock-off of Applebee’s Blonde Brownies, but I decided to do a little spin on it and add in some chopped Granny Smith Apples and top them off with a Maple Cream Cheese Glaze to give it some sweetness.
I love those Granny Smith’s, but feel free to add in your favorite apple flavor to these blondie brownies, or you can leave them plain or add in some white chocolate chips and nuts. It’s whatever your little heart desires. Don’t they look scrumptious?
Are you a blondie or a brownie stalker? Here are some other blondie and brownie recipes that might sway you too!
I SO wish I could drink coffee with these blondie brownies. It would be SOOOOO perfect! I love coffee, but it doesn’t like me! 🙁 How rude, right?!!!
So, I will just warm one of these little home-made babies up in the microwave, then give it a dollop of vanilla ice cream and top it off with some more Maple Cream Cheese Glaze! Sprinkle some walnuts or pecans on top for a more nutty, crunchy flavor! Yum!
So, what are you waiting for?
- 1 cup sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 Granny Smith Apple chopped
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened
- 1/2 teaspoon maple extract or maple flavoring
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Melt butter, add brown sugar, and mix well.
Add egg and vanilla and mix well.
Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to wet mixture.
Stir in apples and white chocolate chips.
Pour into a 9-inch greased square pan and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
While brownies are baking, make the sauce.
Combine syrup and butter, cook over low heat until butter is melted. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved and remove from heat. Beat in cream cheese and maple extract until smooth.
Place a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream on the warm brownie and drizzle with sauce and additional walnuts if desired.
If you wish to use the sauce later on, you can heat it again in the microwave until it reaches desired consistency.
